Arlington Heights and Education Hubs Launch

HandsOn Suburban Chicago (HOSC) and Linked Local Network (LLN), as part of the Community Hub Network, have collaborated to launch two new websites focusing on Arlington Heights and Education. The sites will be previewed on May 1^st at 8:30 am at the Forest View Education Center Theater in Arlington Heights. In attendance will be Thomas Hayes Arlington Heights Mayor, Carl LaMells of Clearbrook, and Mike Fiel Director of Community Education at Township HS District 214.

These two new Internet websites are designed to share news, information and events that professionals can use to grow their organization, engage in community dialogue and create long-term, mutually beneficial relationships between business, nonprofit, public service agencies and education sectors.

There will be a short presentation on how organizations can get involved and an opportunity to ask questions. There will also be a virtual ribbon cutting. This event is free to attend.

Michele & Mike interview Mihaela Lacramioara, orphan, actress and model.
Mihaela was born in Romania and adopted at age 3 from an orphanage. She grew up in Delaware! Her parents actually enrolled her in Barbizon Modeling agency when she was a kid and then she attended 3 years at Cab Calloway School of the Arts.

They moved to the Midwest when she was 19.
- The Hooter’s swimsuit competition is really what sparked her interest to get started.

- Started building her modeling portfolio and had the opportunity to work with dozens of amazing photographers.

- She did modeling for an amazing local designer “Scissors” – Urban Jungle Fashions 2009. Urban Jungle is a Denver based designer.

- Featured in a music video called Lover’s Battlecry by the band Novus Folium – Produced by Ghostblade Productions, LLC and directed by Jimmy Drain (2010)

- Hosted a Hip-Hop video show countdown for All Access Live – Produced by Joseph Salvador and Prophecy Onasis

- Selected as a 2010 Colorado Maxim Hometown Hottie

She moved to Topeka, KS to save money to move to Los Angeles and attended theatre courses at Washburn University.

She moved to LA in September of 2011 to get things started!

- Started attending some acting classes in Sherman Oaks and taking small/extra roles

- She was featured in a music video called “Run Like Hell” by Tara Priya who is #1 in Japan

- Extra on Grey’s Anatomy

- Extra on a French TV series called Hollywood Girls

- Had a supporting role in the Discovery ID documentary called Fatal Encounters – Living on the Edge

- She gained Taft Hartley status, which makes her SAG eligible (SAG=Screen Actors Guild), on a small web series called Heroine Legends

- Had a small role in a Feature Film call “The Paddy Lincoln Gang” which is releasing this summer

- Had a quick role as a Persian Refugee in a feature film called “ARGO” which is directed by Ben Affleck and will release October 12th.

- Small role as a Factory Drug Worker Girl in an upcoming feature film by “A New Theory Entertainment and DGK”

Cary Miller has been working in the food industry since 1977. As a youngster his career ambition was to become a butler. His passion to serve was obvious from an early age and continues today. With a degree in Hospitality Industry Administration, the early years of his career was focused on utilizing his culinary skills. This developed into a front of the house management career. While employed as a restaurant manager, each of his reviews noted his natural sales ability. One day, while having a cup of coffee at the restaurant he was managing, he began reading his favorite trade publication, Food Industry News. A brainstorm had occurred. LLN Reports on Giving Back to the Community by Bruce Glickson. Bruce has enjoyed the restaurant business his entire life. He opened The Hot Dog Place, Inc.in 1977 with only 7 seats. Within 2 years he expanded to 42 seats. In 1985 he was awarded “Best Hot Dog in Chicago”. One of his most interesting events was having a buffet on the top floor of a building overlooking Soldier Field.

Bruce has been involved with the area Chambers of Commerce because he felt strongly about giving back to the communities where he worked and lived. He is a supporter of Camp Care-A-Lot in downstate Illinois. The camp is for children from disadvantaged homes and is free to the campers who are selected by the principals at their local schools. Bruce also works at the Des Plaines food kitchen for the homeless.

Bruce retired from the hot dog and catering business in 2004 and began working with Gordon Food Service in September 2005. Bruce’s drive to give back to community found a home in Gordon Food Service. GFS as a company feels strongly about being involved in the community. GFS supports the food kitchen in Des Plaines and funding several other organizations.

LLN Reports on The Coffee Cake Lady, Christine Welch. Christine Welch is the founder and owner of The Coffeecake Connection company, which was officially launched on November 1st, 2011 after after months of life changing events that catapulted a dream into becoming a reality.

Christine was part of Corporate America for over 25 years, and her most recent position was managing a team of account executives in HR/PR technology solutions. For eight of those years, she baked her infamous buttermilk coffee cakes. Her cakes often were conversation openers during the various meetings she attended or coordinated.

In 2011, life changed drastically for Christine, and all of the events of that year pushed her toward realizing her dream of baking coffeecakes full-time and opening her own business.

Christine Welch is the mother/stepmother of five young adults. She lives in the suburbs of Chicago and strives to build a company that will contribute to charity, create new jobs and be guided by her faith to live the life that fulfills her purpose.
